Critical Illness Insurance
Critical Illness Insurance
Financial Support When You Need It Most
A serious health diagnosis can have a major impact on your life, both emotionally and financially. Unum Critical Illness Insurance provides a lump-sum cash benefit after a covered diagnosis, giving you additional financial flexibility during a challenging time.
How Critical Illness Insurance Works
If you're diagnosed with a covered critical illness, you receive a cash benefit paid directly to you. Covered conditions may include serious illnesses such as:
- Heart attack
- Stroke
- Cancer
- Other covered critical illnesses outlined in the plan
The benefit is paid as a lump sum, and you decide how to use the money.
Why Enroll?
Even with comprehensive medical coverage, a serious illness can create unexpected expenses. Critical Illness Insurance can help you pay for:
- Medical plan deductibles and copays
- Treatment-related costs
- Travel and lodging expenses
- Household bills and everyday living expenses
- Childcare or caregiver support
- Lost income during recovery
- Coverage That Continues to Protect You
One unique feature of this coverage is that it can be used more than once.
After receiving a benefit for one covered condition, you may remain eligible for benefits for other covered critical illnesses and, in many cases, for the recurrence of a previously covered illness (excluding skin cancer). Recurrence benefits may be payable up to 100% of your elected coverage amount, subject to policy provisions.
